This year commemorates the 250th anniversary of two pivotal moments in American history: the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, an early Revolutionary War triumph that helped shift momentum in favor of the colonies. Each day of the celebration focuses on a theme linking our history to today, and counties are encouraged to interpret and adapt these themes in ways that best reflect their own communities.
Revolutionary Conversations | Humanity In History

Where: International African American Museum | 14 Wharfside Street, Charleston
As part of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the International African American Museum presents the first installment of Revolutionary Conversations, a collaborative dialogue series developed with leading cultural and civic partners across Charleston. Facilitated by Tina Singleton of Transformation Table, the program brings together shared stories and reflection centered on freedom, justice, and belonging, inviting participants to engage in meaningful dialogue on how the ideals of revolution continue to shape the American experience.

Sourdough Making

21st Annual Sweetgrass Festival

The Annual Sweetgrass Festival is coming to Mount Pleasant’s Memorial Waterfront Park. This festival celebrates the Gullah Geechee people’s history, culture, and sweetgrass basket art form. Enjoy live music, browse stunning handwoven baskets by local artisans, and attend educational sessions that will enlighten and entertain participants of all ages.
